Free Up the Mobile Phone Networks
Plenty has been said and written about this here and in other continents. The walled gardens have to fall.
At a time when even speaking up or blogging about the carriers can be dangerous, I thank Vindu Goel for his post, urging that it is time to open up the cell-phone networks here.
Vindu says:
More and more people use their cell phones as a gateway to e-mail and the Internet. But unlike the open standards of the Web, the cell-phone networks are a closed system. Carriers like Verizon Wireless, AT&T and Sprint have total control.
While this particular post focuses on the texting aspect, all other aspects (Speaking up about it, Quality of Service, Contracts, New Technologies, etc) need a big change.
