Dell's acquisition EqualLogic may not be fun for EMC
Storage brings in about $2.4 billion a year for Dell, much of it from the resale of devices made by EMC Corp. (EMC). In other words, despite making a lot of sales, Dell doesn’t get a bigger piece of the pie. No wonder Michael Dell is looking to cut EMC out of the picture and take control of the company’s storage destiny. (read full story at: gigaom.com)

It will still be a big struggle for Dell. I think HP is making much better moves in this space. Dell is more of some assembly shop without any input into R&D.
Maybe it is time to Dell to innovate and focus more on R&D, with storage being one of the fastest growing segments. I use Dell products and I have to vouch for their quality.
Mergers and acquisitions are always tricky and usually do not work. Cisco is the only company I know which has mastered the art of making acquisition work.
Anyways, EMC has to watchout and forget the lowend market.
