Online Startup ProgressIllinois.com Takes On Fox News
Online media startup ProgressIllionois.com is girding up for an impending court battle with the Fox News in a fracas over clips from YouTube that the startup used in its posts, but which Fox News said were infringement of its copyrights. I don't think Fox has a case here against this startup.
If they want to go after, they have to go after YouTube for the copyright violation by allowing the video to be posted illegally, which they probably wont. YouTube allows any publisher to request that any video be taken down as it violates copyright. If Fox News does take down the video's from YouTube they loose a lot of viewers.
Its a two edge sword for Fox News.
Instead of spending the money on litigation, maybe Fox News should develop a killer video product which will bring people in drove to Fox News site, instead of going to You Tube or some other startup.
